Our professors are educated in anatomy, physiology, and nutrition. CPR Certified, live scanned, have up to 3 degrees of black belts in multiple martial arts. They understand that no two bodies are alike and will work with you to get fit at the right pace.

Odilon “OJ” Domingues began his training in Brazil with esteemed Gracie-Barra Black Belt, Professor Rey Perez (ACRE BRAZIL) at the age of 12 years  old. In 1999 he moved to Northern California to train with Ralph “The Pitbull” Gracie. OJ went on to refine his training with the founder of Triune BJJ, 3rd degree Black Belt, Professor Stan Kendrick and CIA Paulista founder Coral Belt Professor Waldomiro Perez Jr.  After 11 years of arduous and dedicated training, OJ received his Black Belt in November of 2009.

Professor Ernest Wong

Professor Ernest Wong

Black Belt Brazilian Jiu Jitsu 2nd degree

Ernest Wong has over 25+ years of diverse Martial Arts experience.

He started studying Bok-fu (Kung-fu/Karate) first with Art Cantu and Phil Cepeda. His adventures then took him to San Jose State University where he was an undergraduate and introduced to both Judo from Daniel Kikuchi and Wing Chun with Francis Der. From there, he discovered and trained Boxing with Coach “Fast Eddie”, Kali with Guro Jeff Canion and Muay Thai with Dr. Nirmalya Bhowmick.

Still seeking further Martial Arts training, he started to study Brazilian Jiu-jitsu with Professors Ralph Gracie, Bobby Southworth, Tom Cissero, and lastly, Stan Kendrick with whom he earned his Black Belt in 2012. He continues his BJJ journey under the tutelage of Professor OJ Domingues. 

His teaching method is progressive, friendly, and technical (adding in basic physics and math while sharing techniques). This provides an outstanding, welcoming learning environment for Brazilian Jiu-jitsu practitioners of all levels from young to the young at heart.

When not training or working as a VP at Bank of the West, he enjoys spending time with his wife Angela and daughters, Ashlyn and Shannon.

Fun facts: "Foodie", "Car Nut," Golden State Warriors fan, and has a Siamese blue-eyed cat named, "Judy Anakela."

Deb Arana

Deb Arana

Black Belt Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

Deb has danced professionally with numerous companies over her 30 plus years as a dancer. She is trained in classical ballet, jazz, modern, Afro contemporary, Brazilian, pole and aerial dance.

She began training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in 1999 with the Gracie team under Kurt Osiander in SF and holds her black belt under Clovis Silva earned 2013 and a stripe in 2017. She has competed locally and in PanAmerican tournaments over the years, her love of the sport that keeps her on the mats.

Also, certified group fitness instructor since 1981, certified personal trainer, Xpert pole dance and Pilates instructor.

Her knowledge and love of movement shows with her students thru enthusiasm and care. Working with her student’s individual needs, intuitively coaching her them with her many years experience as a movement instructor.

Victoria was born in Brasilia, Brazil. She started to train Jiu-jitsu when she was just 6 years old with Professor Cláudio Careca. She has been competing since she was 11 years old. As a professional competitor at 13 years old, traveling all over Brazil to compete. Victoria loves to train, jiu-jitsu changed her life it gave her a base for life that she uses on and off the mat. She has dedicated her life to Jiu-jitsu and finds her dedication has shown its rewards. Dedicated to training hard, is what got her here, from her first world title as a Blue belt Juvenile, the championship that drove her to her most current World Champion title. She is married to follow Thrive Jiu Jitsu Black Belt Roniel Costa and daily you will see them and their 4 year old training. 

Victoria works is a dedicated trainer at Thrive and works with women for self defense.
